Corsair VM

Inte riktigt, men med 60 till 70 deltagande båtar kommer årets upplaga av US Corsair Nationals att bli det största Corsairevenemanget hittills. Arrangörerna hoppas på många utländska deltagare, och desto tidigare man är ute, desto enklare är det att hitta en båt att chartra eller att gasta på. Man kan åka dit bara för att ha kul (och det är nog väldigt kul) och byta erfarenheter men det är också en chans att utvecklas som seglare; att segla entyp mot rutinerade konkurrenter på kryss/läns-bana är trots allt något annat än att harva runt i innerskärgården på jaktstart LYS.

Också regatta.nu håller upprop om att segla på andra sidan Atlanten. Arne K. missonerar flitigt om nästa års Key West Race Week och har till och med den goda smaken att illustrera inlägget med en bild på en Corsair 28 från årets upplaga. För många svenskar kanske det också är mer lockande att byta en svensk januarivecka mot Key West än att "trada" bort början av augusti, men samma sak gäller här; var ute i god tid! Naturligtvis behöver man inte ha seglat Corsair tidigare för att få chartra båt, för en presumtiv köpare kan det ju vara ett bra tillfälle att provsegla.

"Hello all!

As you may all know by now the US Corsair National Championship Regatta will be this August 6, 7 and 8.

Beverly Yacht Club in Marion Massachusetts which is near Cape Cod will host the event to be sailed on Buzzards Bay. The location is one hour south of Boston and one hour east of Newport Rhode Island. Buzzards Bay is known for high winds and warm water in the summer months. This is the first year the US Nationals has been outside of Florida and the first year it has been held during the summer vacation months. Early indications show a large number of boats interested in cruising but hopefully the racing will remain at least as strong as most of the Florida events. It would be really fun to make this an international regatta!

I mention this because this might be a good opportunity to come see what might be the biggest Trimaran Regattas ever! It is too early to tell for sure but we anticipate at least 60 boats racing! If you are interested we can help you find a boat. There may be some charter boats available and certainly there are owners looking for experienced racers to sail with them. Let me know early enough if you are interested and I am reasonably certain I can find you a fun ride!
